Careers & Post-16

Ely Classrooms is an approved provider of post-16 provision through Cambridgeshire Children’s Commissioning.
Our post-16 programme combines continued education with preparation for adulthood. Young people can continue with qualifications they still need while developing the skills and confidence needed for their next steps.

Employment

At Key Stage 3, the priority for many pupils is re-engaging with education. English and Maths form part of the curriculum, but they do not have to dominate a pupil’s timetable. A young person might have just one lesson a week in each, with more of their time spent on practical, creative or other subjects that give them a reason to want to come in and learn.

Community Inclusion

Young people can develop confidence outside the classroom through supported activities in the community. This can include using public transport, accessing local facilities, volunteering and learning to navigate unfamiliar environments safely.

Independent Living

Practical skills can include budgeting, cooking and meal planning, managing appointments and routines, and planning journeys.

Health and Wellbeing

The programme can include therapeutic support, physical activity and practical work around wellbeing, routines and self-care.

Community and off-site activities are supported and planned with the young person’s needs and safety in mind.
